Week 3 Recaps:
McAllen Lancers 20, Colorado Knights 27
Colorado erased a 17–0 first-quarter deficit behind Paul Welch’s steady passing and a defense that stiffened after early miscues. Welch threw for two touchdowns in a 21-point second quarter that flipped momentum before halftime. The Knights’ ground game helped control tempo late, and Wesley Shapiro’s pair of fourth-quarter field goals stretched the margin. McAllen’s last-minute 50-yard kick made the score respectable but didn’t threaten the result. Colorado kept the Lancers chasing.
Vancouver Killer Whales 38, Pittsburgh Pythons 31
Vancouver overcame an early 14–0 deficit by unleashing a blistering mid-game surge, with Kelvin Jordan tossing three touchdowns and adding a rushing score. Pittsburgh moved the ball effectively—544 total yards and 36 first downs—but three interceptions and red-zone stalls proved costly. Vancouver’s defense produced a crucial pick-six before halftime, giving the Whales their first lead. The Pythons mounted a late charge but ran out of time after two quick fourth-quarter touchdowns. Vancouver put it out of reach.
Salt Lake City Stallions 17, Dakota Spirit 13
Salt Lake City rallied with two fourth-quarter touchdown drives engineered by Myles Jennings, who found Phil Newson and Carter Brooks to erase a 10–3 deficit. Dakota controlled long stretches of the game but settled for field goals on two promising second-half drives. The Spirit’s inability to finish drives left the door open late. The Stallions' defense held firm on the final Dakota push to preserve the comeback. Salt Lake City snuffed out a comeback.
Alaska Polar Bears 20, London Monarchs 3
Alaska dictated the game from the opening quarter as Harris Harp struck early through the air and the Polar Bears leaned on a balanced 381-yard offense. Their defense stifled London’s rushing attack, holding the Monarchs to just 38 yards on the ground. A late third-quarter field goal gave London faint hope, but Alaska responded with a methodical touchdown drive to restore control. Lance Holloway’s second field goal capped the performance. Alaska slammed the door.
Montreal Firebirds 23, Norfolk Fleet 14
Montreal opened hot with 17 first-quarter points, including a defensive fumble return that pushed the lead firmly in their direction. Norfolk found rhythm through Earl Rodriguez and Bryce Crotti, who connected for two long touchdowns. But the Fleet failed to generate a consistent run game, and Montreal’s defense tightened in the red zone. Claude Cunningham’s steady kicking kept the Firebirds ahead throughout. Montreal provided the difference.
Tijuana Tequila Worms 44, Orlando Pirates 27
Tijuana exploded for 31 first-half points, fueled by Micah Bergman’s three touchdown passes and a 73-yard fumble return. Orlando clawed back with a strong third quarter, including a long strike and an interception return. But the Worms’ passing attack—370 yards—continued stacking big plays, and Bryson Benson’s late field goal sealed control. Orlando’s offense flashed but couldn’t match Tijuana’s pace. Tijuana delivered the knockout blow.
Calgary Stampeders 55, Georgia Generals 3
Calgary imposed its will from the start, highlighted by a 98-yard interception return that set the tone for a dominant defensive afternoon. Luis Marsh tossed four touchdowns during a 31-point second quarter. Calgary outgained Georgia 527–228 and never allowed momentum to shift. Backup Rich Castanie added a touchdown in the third quarter. Calgary broke the game open.
Los Angeles Matadors 13, Raleigh Armada 10
Los Angeles clawed back from a 10–0 deficit with a strong defensive showing that limited Raleigh’s red-zone success. The Matadors tied the game before halftime, then leaned on Jack Powell’s two field goals to secure the lead. Raleigh moved the ball between the 20s but stalled repeatedly. LA controlled possession late to protect the slim margin. Los Angeles sealed the win.
Miami Vice 14, West Virginia Beasts 10
Miami rallied from a 10–0 halftime deficit as Miles Rose steadied the offense and connected with Carson Whyte for a third-quarter touchdown. The Vice defense tightened dramatically, holding WVA scoreless after halftime. Nick Pearson’s late two-yard plunge capped a 74-yard drive that seized the lead. Miami protected possession to prevent any final push. Miami sealed the win.
Portland Express 19, Iowa City Tribe 16 (OT)
Portland leaned on J.B. Horner’s five field goals—including the 26-yard overtime winner—to escape Iowa City. The Express survived a pick-six and a fourth-quarter rally. Portland’s passing attack produced 346 yards and multiple key conversions. The Tribe forced OT with a late 49-yarder but couldn’t answer. Portland put it out of reach.
Las Vegas Hookers 44, Houston Renegades 17
Las Vegas erupted with a 21-point second quarter to seize control. Trey Cook threw three touchdowns and the Hookers added a 61-yard pick-six. Jalen Carlisle’s third-quarter score ended Houston’s hopes as Vegas rolled to 510 yards. Houston flashed early but couldn’t keep pace. Las Vegas broke the game open.
Horsetooth Ogres 22, Kansas City Owls 9
Bryant Page drilled five field goals, including a 54-yarder, as Horsetooth controlled the scoring pace. Kansas City moved the ball but faltered in the red zone. Horsetooth’s lone touchdown early in the fourth widened the gap. KC couldn’t mount late answers. Horsetooth gave breathing room.
Texas Bulldogs 27, San Antonio Storm 10
Kai Posey’s three touchdown passes sparked a dominant first half. San Antonio struggled in the rain, going 4-for-15 on third downs while Texas forced four turnovers. The Storm cut the margin briefly, but Texas responded immediately with a long field goal. The Bulldogs maintained control wire to wire. Texas set the tone early.
Hartford Whalers 37, State College Stagz 14
Hartford opened fast with efficient passing and a strong run game. Avery Farrell’s 83-yard pick-six broke the game open before halftime. Curtis Bradley kicked four field goals to maintain the cushion. State College found occasional rhythm but couldn’t finish drives. Hartford delivered the knockout blow.
Boston Brawlers 27, Madison Demons 19
Alonzo Lincoln powered Boston with two rushing touchdowns and a TD pass. The Brawlers controlled the ground game and tightened defensively in the second half. Madison stayed close through Keith Doyle’s kicks but stalled inside the 30 late. Boston’s fourth-quarter surge secured the margin. The Brawlers put the finishing touch.
Murfreesboro Mules 48, Columbia Chicharrones 16
Murfreesboro overwhelmed Columbia with a 21-point first quarter fueled by Vincent Dunn’s precision passing. Dunn tossed four touchdowns as the Mules racked up 493 yards at 8.5 yards per play. Columbia managed late field goals but never threatened. The Mules controlled every phase. Murfreesboro swung momentum.
