Week 1 Game Recaps
Courtesy of ChatGPT Plus
Tijuana Tequila Worms 31, McAllen Lancers 19
The Worms controlled the game from start to finish, building a multi-possession lead while their offense steadily moved the ball — McAllen never quite found the rhythm. Tijuana Tequila Worms used 324 passing yards and a rushing TD from QB Micah Bergman to build a 24–7 halftime lead; McAllen’s late red-zone trips produced a passing TD and a pick-six, but came too late. A 70-yard interception return for a TD by McAllen cut the deficit — but the Worms answered immediately with a grinding drive and touchdown run by Bergman to put the game out of reach. Put it out of reach
Texas Bulldogs 9, Kansas City Owls 10
A defensive slugfest where neither offense could find the end zone — the Owls eked out a narrow win on the strength of timely defense and a late field goal. Kansas City Owls got a second-quarter touchdown pass from J.R. Gardner to Rusty Maloney and then stalled, relying on defense as the Bulldogs countered with three field goals. Neither side generated a rushing touchdown; in fact, Texas out-gained KC in yards and time of possession. With under two minutes to go and the Bulldogs threatening, KC’s defense forced a turnover on downs — the Owls then drilled a clutch field goal to seal the win. Sealed the win
Los Angeles Matadors 22, Las Vegas Hookers 14
The Matadors outmuscled the Hookers in a low-scoring battle, steadily building a lead before their defense held strong down the stretch. Los Angeles put up 296 total yards (185 passing, 111 rushing) while limiting Las Vegas to just one touchdown each half. Las Vegas QB Trey Cook passed for 206 yards and two TDs to WR Benjamin Eagleton, but the Matadors’ defense snagged two key interceptions — including a 39-yard pick-six by Abel Drake that turned the tide. That defensive touchdown broke the game open.
Pittsburgh Pythons 29, Horsetooth Ogres 10
The Pythons controlled the pace all game, combining efficient offense with opportunistic defense to subdue the Ogres. Pittsburgh rolled up 352 total yards (263 passing, 89 rushing) behind QB Dominic Shapiro’s 263-yard, 1-TD passing night and five straight field goals from kicker Nick Mueller. The turning point came when safety Tyler Loup returned an interception 68 yards for a touchdown — that swing sealed the win.
Madison Demons 22, Dakota Spirit 19
The Demons eked out a close win after a back-and-forth first half left things tight — but their kicking game and a late touchdown sealed the narrow victory. Madison out-gained Dakota 286 to 269 total yards, and kicked three field goals led by kicker Keith Doyle. The deciding blow came when Madison drove down late and hit a touchdown pass to Marco Olpin with under eight minutes remaining. That drive put the finishing touch.
Murfreesboro Mules 40, Miami Vice 7
The Mules dominated from start to finish, controlling the game with a balanced attack and stifling Miami’s offense. Quarterback Vincent Dunn threw multiple touchdown passes (including two to Nolan Croteau), while kicker Noah Browning added three field goals. With the game firmly in hand by early in the 3rd quarter, the Mules put it out of reach.
Alaska Polar Bears 45, Portland Express 17
The Polar Bears dominated from the opening whistle, using a balanced offensive attack and strong defense to pull away early and never look back. Alaska piled up 475 total yards — 208 on the ground and 267 through the air — while limiting Portland to just 315 yards. QB George Powell threw for 273 yards and 3 TDs, and added a rushing score; meanwhile their defense returned an interception for a touchdown and forced multiple turnovers. That defensive score broke the game open.
Hartford Whalers 35, Norfolk Fleet 26
In a back-and-forth battle, the Whalers outlasted the Fleet as their offense found a late surge to overcome an early deficit. Norfolk built an early lead behind two scoring drives, including a long TD pass — but Hartford responded with four fourth-quarter scores, including a long 74-yard touchdown strike and a final field goal to edge ahead. A clutch 74-yard pass to Gilbert Sims late in the 4th gave Hartford breathing room.
Columbia Chicharrones 23, West Virginia Beasts 6
The Chicharrones controlled the pace early and never let up — their ground game and steady kicking kept the Beasts off balance all day. Columbia out-rushed West Virginia 161 to 93 and converted 6 of 15 third downs, while kicker Francisco Tait booted three field goals to tack on points when drives stalled. WV’s only score came on a long field goal, but Columbia’s offense consistently moved the chains. Wade Harris’s 131-yard rushing day and steady drives put the finishing touch.
San Antonio Storm 21, Georgia Generals 17
In a back-and-forth slugfest, the Storm edged out the Generals thanks to efficient big plays and a fourth-quarter scoring drive. San Antonio quarterback Ralph Ford tossed two touchdown passes — including a 17-yard strike to Sammie Hancock late — while RB Deron Bolton churned out a solid 89 yards on the ground. Georgia’s offense racked up 371 total yards and tied it late with a field goal, but the Storm sealed it with that late touchdown drive. The final drive for San Antonio gave breathing room.
Boston Brawlers 45, Orlando Pirates 17
Boston stamped their authority early, racing out to a lead and never letting up as their offense clicked and defense clamped down. The Brawlers piled up 388 total yards (313 passing, 75 rushing) — quarterback Alonzo Lincoln threw five touchdown passes while Myles Montgomery and Roger Hurd each hauled in TD catches. Orlando answered with two second-half scores, but Boston’s consistent pace and a late field goal gave them control. A 9-yard TD pass late in the fourth quarter put the finishing touch.
London Monarchs 34, Montreal Firebirds 3
The Monarchs dominated from whistle to whistle, mixing a powerful run game with timely passing — Montreal never gained traction on offense. London racked up 442 total yards (226 rushing, 216 passing), with Jesse Frederick tossing three touchdown passes while Kyle Henry and Dillon Fisher helped punch drives into the endzone. Montreal’s only damage came on an early field goal; after that London controlled both clock and momentum. A 4-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter gave breathing room.
Vancouver Killer Whales 32, Colorado Knights 10
Vancouver controlled the game from the start, building a comfortable lead early and keeping Colorado’s offense largely in check. The Killer Whales jumped ahead with a first-quarter TD pass from Kelvin Jordan and added another touchdown plus three field goals in the second quarter to lead 23–7 at halftime. Vancouver out-gained Colorado 445 to 268 total yards — 339 through the air — as Jordan completed 27 of 42 attempts for 346 yards and 3 TDs. Jordan’s second-quarter scoring strike, followed by a pair of field goals that extended the lead before the half, put the finishing touch.
Calgary Stampeders 33, Salt Lake City Stallions 17
Calgary methodically out-worked Salt Lake City, controlling possession and steadily outpacing the Stallions on both sides of the ball. Though Salt Lake City opened the scoring, the Stampeders responded with a field goal and a touchdown before the half. Calgary then added two more touchdowns and a late field goal to put the game away — finishing with 423 yards of offense (117 rushing, 306 passing) and converting 11 of 18 third downs. Midway through the third quarter a TD pass from Luis Marsh, followed by sustained drives and a fourth-quarter field goal, sealed the win for Calgary.
Raleigh Armada 27, Houston Renegades 9
Raleigh leaned on a balanced ground game and timely defense to control the line of scrimmage, while Houston struggled to sustain drives. The Armada racked up 148 rushing yards, generated 16 first downs, and added a pick-six on a 76-yard interception return to open up the lead. Houston managed a single field goal and a late TD, but never really threatened as Raleigh’s defense kept them out of rhythm — the interception return put the finishing touch.
Iowa City Tribe 40, State College Stagz 12
Iowa City dominated on the ground and supplemented it with opportunistic defense to build a commanding lead. The Tribe put up 202 rushing yards and three rushing scores, then sealed the game when CB Cody Schott returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. That turnover return delivered the knockout blow and ensured the Stagz never got back within reach.

Well deserved win as you guys smacked us around all gameOriginally posted by CBatts13 View PostGreat content Rick! And good game. I'm sure you're gonna have it out for me in round two.

I need to change some things quickly (like trashing this gameplan) especially with Lane doing his best "have you seen me" milk carton impression the whole game...
