Stage 5: Ogres Add Young Safety in Trade with Norfolk
By Staff Writer — Imperial Football League Network

The Horsetooth Ogres continued their focused offseason reshaping today, acquiring 24-year-old strong safety Francisco Cheung (6'1", 203 lbs) from the Norfolk Fleet in exchange for pick 4.23. Cheung is expected to step in as the Ogres’ immediate starter on the strong side.

Despite his age, Cheung has already logged two full seasons as a starter in Norfolk, earning a reputation as a smart, steady presence on the back end. He brings steady coverage skills and high-level play recognition—traits the Ogres desperately need after a year marked by miscommunication in the secondary.

While not a big hitter, Cheung’s instincts and every-snap endurance make him a reliable anchor for a rebuilding defense. For a mid-fourth-round pick, the Ogres land a young, durable defensive piece who fits exactly what the new regime is trying to build.

Cheung will join the team this week and is expected to take immediate first-team reps.

Stage 5: Ogres Bolster Front Seven, Sign LB Vince Peterson to Four-Year Deal
By Staff Writer — Imperial Football League Network

The Horsetooth Ogres added toughness to the heart of their defense today, signing free agent linebacker Vince Peterson to a 4-year, $19.99 million contract. The 6-year veteran, originally a 3rd-round pick of the Miami Vice in the 2069 IFL Draft, brings size (6'2", 245 lbs) and a rugged play style to a defense that needed more bite.

Peterson arrives with a reputation as a heavy hitter and a powerful presence against the run. His Punishing Hitter and Pass Rush Strength traits jump off the tape, giving the Ogres a downhill force who can disrupt blocking schemes and set a physical tone. While he’s not a coverage specialist, his ability to thump between the tackles and provide impact on special teams makes him an ideal fit for the Ogres’ evolving defensive identity.

The Ogres continue to invest in proven veterans as they reshape a roster that struggled in the trenches last season. Peterson is expected to compete for a starting role and immediately contribute to the team's physical edge.
