  • Did a plague hit my team?

I feel like 4-5 MAJOR players literally just plummeted after looking fine following training camp, but after the first preseason game they were... broken. Never saw it happen at this timeframe or this severely, so just... blown away by the bad luck. Feeling blue...

After analyzing your declines, CB Kim Grant was the key guy - but his volatility is high at 84. Young players are at risk for a vol drop until their rookie contract expires. And two of your drops were 11 and 12 year vets where an age decline can be expected. The future rating of rookie RB Phillips was probably overrated and he really was a mid-60s player, i.e., not really a drop.

If it makes you feel any better. IWC had 7 players with a decline more than 6. Some were backups, but RT Foreman (-7) and TE Pieper (-9 and now cut) were key contributors on offense.

I just realized that my biggest bust prior was a FS called Kim Starks (This is going back YEARS and years and years). I remember because it was traumatizing ;-)

I guess the lesson here is: Do NOT draft anyone with the name 'Kim'.

Haha, yeah I always refer to the file after preseason wk 1-2 as the Doomsday Stage. My most painful drop over the years was my 1.2 overall stud DE Peter Springer dropping from an 87 to a 50 at age 24.

2060 - Undefeated regular season, then lost in 1st playoff game
Two QBs drafted #1 overall, then traded to others who made them into stars

So young ... had his whole future ahead of him.

Ugh. You made me go back and doublecheck. My 26 year old first round pick CB dropped from 51 to 16.

Haha yeah I shouldn't have mentioned. I recall spending 2 years grooming a young center by starting him, and year 3 he went from 50ish to like 16, unplayable. Always a chance of the death stick hitting your players, and every year I don't have a tragedy in this stage I give a sigh of relief.

My biggest drop this year was my old corner dropping another 12 or so points, but it's not too unexpected with older vets.
