TCY updated, want your opinions!

Ok,with the TCY update today, some things have been going on. I jumped the gun and downloaded the patch. Afterwards I found out that with the patch the game now starts in the year 2004, FOF startsin 2003, that is what we are in. The draft files that TCY now creates are MUCH better in my opinion, so my first thought was to start a new TCY career for our league. But then I noticed the starting year problem. This would make players entering the league pretty much a year younger then they normally would be. Doing some testing, most players are born in 82, and a good amount in 81, some before this. This makes for a pretty large number of players who would be drafted at the age of 21, turning 22 during their rookie year. This is a little unrealistic. THEN, there is also the possibility that TCY2 still comes out. I have pretty much decided that the college file i had worked with and have been holding onto, is now out the door no matter what, so i think our options are these.....

1. We sit and wait, most likely using a FOF generated draft for our first league draft. Then, with the next season we can start a new TCY career and have it matchup year wise, this would be the case if a new TCY2 comes out or not.

2. We start a new TCY career now, I do the write ups again like before and you guys can follow along if you want, BUT the players will come into the league roughly a year younger then they normally would.

At first I had no problem with the younger players, but the more I think about it, the more unsure I become, simply put, I just don't know. So I ask your opinions..........

Realism always trumps in my book; I really don't care to see a class composed mainly of (what would be in effect) college juniors. Plus this leaves us the option of using TCY 2 (if it comes out) or using TCY 1.3 after our initial season.

Well, I am sure looking at my roster you all know my opinion, but I will state it anyway. Players are entering the league younger and younger every year anyway. Look at the NBA. Players now comming out of highschool, and some of them are actually quite good(Kobe Bryant, LeBron James), two of the best players in the league. Having the players a year younger is really no big deal in the scheme of things, and I would like to keep with the TCY, I enjoy tracking the rookies, and watching the college updates.

My vote is yes.(My vote should count for 2 since my team blows chunks and I will probably be drafting first ).

Option 3 is to use the TCY file I have now, but I would have to go in and adjust ratings so it matched up with the things I have written (in other words, making the FOF ratings match up more with the players college performance). Then for the next season I would start a new TCY career on whatever is the newest version of TCY, and the drafts would come from those, and would come out good from what I see....

You and I had this discussion already, however let me restate it so I can pad my post count.
If we do indeed use TCY this should happen. I have run the TCY and uploaded it to FOF, and 99 times out of 100, the players that dominated college, are crap in FOF. Which pretty much makes having the TCY updates useless, unless...their potiental stats are altered using a FOF editor to reflect their college stats. A HUGE VOTE OF YES on this idea.

Jave, with the TCY update that came out today, the draft files come out A TON better, not perfect but pretty damn good comparing them so far. They will not need editing at all IMO.

And don't worry, we will not have a bad draft file, no matter what way we go.

I'm not in favor of having players come in at a younger age. Over the course of the IFL's existence this will increase the level of talent in the league and therefore decrease the level of gameplanning. It will only be a slight increase in league talent most likely but I say "Why do it without a good reason?" especially considering we have a perfectly suitable one year substitution in the FOF generated draft class.

I'd rather wait an IFL season until the seasons match up on both games (TCY and FOF) before using the college draft classes.

I would prefer to use the FOF generated draft just this first season and then move over to TCY.

I am leaning towards option #1, with the strong response so far towards that. Guys who have not given their opinion, please do so, I will not make an official announcement until this weekend.

Maybe I'm misssing something, but can't you start a new career in TCY 1.3 now. . .sim the first year, and get half way into the second to match up where we are at?

nope, you have it backwards, FOF is a year behind TCY now....so we have to wait until the next draft to catch up to TCY. A new TCY career starts in 2004, that draft file would be for 2005. We are in 2003 in FOF, our first draft is 2004.
