  • Draft

Being that I am currently working 55+ hours a week, my opinion is more then a bit biased. However, that being said, I think this drafting method favors those who are able to be more active.
I found this year very diffucult to draft, I was awalys behind and the draft was going so quickly, I was unable to catch up. I have no problem with Sov, or the choices he made, in fact, I thank him for picking up my slack, however, I would have rather had a forum draft, that was simplier to keep track of who was picked, and ran slower.
This was a key year for me, but due to my work schedule, it was a disaster!

If I was to vote, I would wish to continue with forum drafts next year

I grant you that once it hit selection 100 or so it zoomed along. Even thoug I was able to monitor from work, it was still hard to keep up. And with the clock ticking there was little chance to make deals or move around in the draft if you were unable to monitor. Also agree that with the clock ticking it was more difficult to know WHEN you would be on the clock. I also grant that the Draft O Matic was difficult to set up with more than half a dozen or so selections, but it was still doable just not easy.

That being stated, I liked it better this way. The IFL being a 1 game a week league I agree that the offseason is our chance to pick up the pace a little.

The one time I was pressed against the clock, I was attempting a trade, everyone was more than helpful.

And even though the Draft O Matic was not perfect, I liked it.

The draft utility was real nice. I just wished you could move the guys around in your preference list. Other then that, it was nice. I liked how the draft ticker was on the message board too.

The one big improvement the Draft-O-Matic needs is the ability to reprioritize your selection list without tearing the whole thing up.

I preferred it this way to the way things were last year.

        2003 IFL AC East Runner-Up - Wildcard 10-6
        2004 IFL AC East Runner-UP - Wildcard - AC Runner-up 10-5-1
        2005 3rd Place AC East 6-10 2007 2nd Place AC East 8-8
        2006 3rd Place AC East 7-9 2008 2nd Place AC East 9-7
2009 1st Place AC East, Imperial Bowl Champions 13-3

If the Draft-O-Matic is available to use next offseason, it will be used.
My banner is bigger and prettier and cooler then yours. I choose not to show it so your feelings do not get hurt.

Guess I will submit a 900 players preference list next year.

If you're not going to be around all week (for example), and don't want to set up a list for the entire draft (don't blame you), maybe you can find a guy who you trust who can do your draft for you. Give him a list in order for the first 2, possibly 3 rounds then have him select the best available guy at certain positions you want.

              Just a suggestion though.

I hope, like most, that by next off-season you can rearrange the order of your guys in the utility. Also to be able to sort the list by rating would be nice.

As long as it has improvements, if not I'M PAYING FOR A SPOT in the Warroom 8)
I prefer this over the War Room.

I will admit that I should have posted before I left that if you want to have 'best RB' or something then to let the mods/myself know in advance and that we could just do that for you. Some guys did this anyways, and that is appreciated.

With that said, there is a chance that option may be in there next time. It was something VPI had put in for the first time in the last IHOF draft (only a week or so ago), but it had a bug so he took it out. He just did not have the time look into what was causing the bug before our draft started.

As far as the War Room, I am somewhat against it. I dislike the fact that you (or rather I) have to pay for it.

Actually, he didn't even need to take his own time and set this up on our own site, personalize the utility some, and in general allow us to use it. I would not demand or even ask for him to do any more work then he already has.

There is no perfect system, that everyone will like. If that comes around then I will be pretty amazed.

I didn't like the preference list at first but once I got down to it it went quick. I had a 25 man preference list quick finally ran out before the 6th.

I only have positive things to say about this draft.. The utility made it so much better than a regular board run draft. I felt the speed was awesome. Of course, I had the chance to actually be around when it was my turn to pick (despite being 6 hours ahead of EST, and my first pick being at 2a.m. on a worknight), but thanks to a preference-list it would have worked splendidly anyway (and it did for one of my picks actually)..

Only thing that bothered me was what's been pointed out already.. I wanted to restructure the list a few times and had to rip out all players and restart.. However, that's still better than using the board to draft in my opinion.
