Current cap is "soft cap" right?

there are currently no rules preventing you from doing that. correct.

Um.. the game won't allow you to go over the cap by your own will. Any bid that puts you over the cap will be withdrawn and any trade that puts you over the cap will not be able to be processed.

The only way you can END UP over the cap is after a season ends and you take over the next season's payroll.

yeah, but several league's are creating rules about being over the cap after a certian part of the offseason.

FYI - I was asking because I have $780k to spare and well over that in FA bids. I was hoping I could see the result of my FA bids BEFORE cutting the guys to make room. Looks like that's not an option though...

Another related question although this one is "pretty deep in the guts" of FOF:

When the commissioner imports our files during a FA stage does anyone know if the game calculates restructured contracts BEFORE calculating the current FA bidding stuff?

Example of a team with $1M in cap space:
Player "A" on my team makes $10M per season.
Player "B" is a FA that I've put in a bid of $3M for this season.
I put in a restuctured bid for Player "A" offering him $5M per season

When imported will the game recalculate the contract of Player "A" first (thus giving me $6M in cap space) or calculate the FA bids first (thus leaving me assed out with only $1M in cap space and a $3M bid that I can't afford)?

Basically, yes.

When the files are imprted into the game, it automatically does whatever does not require a stage advancement.

Meaning if you change a guy's position, it does it the instance the export is imported. If you rework a guys contract that, it is accepted or rejected immediately and your cap reworked.

Just like your game plan is put in automatically when I import. That way your team is ready when I hit sim games.
