  • 2039 Predictions

Anyone want to take a stab at how they think their season will go? In Los Angeles I think we are improved from our 1-15 team last season, so I am hoping we can double our wins. Last season was my first MP offseason, and I made some mistakes, such as not realizing I could have 200 plays in my playbook and only having 100.

I am sticking with second-year Udeze at QB for the entire season, even though he is rated 15/38. I think there is more to him. He was able to get through the preseason with a 98 QBR while competing 70% of his passes.

We installed a new smashmouth offense this year. Hopefully, we can feature Hayden Stuvaints in the run game and enable Hillery to throw the deep ball. The IWC defense looks solid as usual.

    I'll predict 12 - 4 and a division title.

Division is close with four teams all capable of beating each other. Nine wins last year, I think we have improved slightly so I will stick my neck out and say 10-6

        It is hard to tell.
The defense has been aging faster than i can replace them. I have some young prospects. but Fackleman's retirement will mean someone will need to step up. The young rookie Safety, Cunningham looks very promising, as well as CBs Gimmaroro and Seigler, but they will take time to mature into their role. Franz is still on top of his game. The LB corps looks mostly solid with outstanding 19th overall pick, Shields turning out to be as billed. Donaldson is still solid and is the defensive leader. The DL is combination of youth and old veterans. We will have to see if they generate pressure on the QB and stop the run consistently.

On Offense, our Achilles heel is the OL. We have been atrocious protecting the QB and often leads to FGs instead of TD and punts instead of FGs. I drafted two OL and signed an undrafted rookie to shake things up. The retirement of the best OL last year, Bo, was setback. The other problem, is QB. We are starting the rookie Vaughn. His rating isn't so good but this is based on his first game which he did play well. However, he later played to a 100+ rating. Womack has been unimpressive in the preseason. TE Amos Whitfield was a real steal in the fourth round and will make a nice addition alongside Weber.

I think we are solid enough for a least a .500 season, but this will depend on the performances of a lot of young guys and some vets continue to play at a high level. I would be fine with under .500 if we are competitive in each game.

We also, unwittingly, installed a smashmouth offense this year. I expect regression from the O learning a new ill-fitting scheme and from D this year as I've lost cohesion and overall skills ushering in some new talent in the secondary. I'll say 9-7 with hopes of a wildcard for the KWhales.

p.s. Thanks for starting this thread and getting some chatter going

I didn't think we were that good last season. This season I think we're better. So probably 2-14.

An aging core likely means a slight regression. Texas looks pretty strong this year too... 10-6 and a wildcard berth.

If Hillery can't stay healthy, I may need to re-think my prediction.

Hoping for similar results as the past 2 seasons.
overall we are pretty darn good. we have some areas of concern(me being one of them), but overall i think we should be somewhere around the NC playoff picture.

So how did everyone do? I guessed my 9-7 right, lucked into the division instead of wild card though.

I was pretty much spot on. We were the top team in he NC during the regular season. Got beat by a better Tulsa team in the playoffs.
Overall I felt our team showed a lot of inconsistency this year. The playoff loss was a stark reminder of that.

Should be be an interesting offseason. Hopefully LM doesnt retire. If he does I will be without a hall of fame QB for the first time since the 2008 season when we rolled out Reuben Sante for all 16 games.
Its been quite a stretch of great QBs

IWC outperformed my expectations in the regular season with a 15 - 1 record. Although we were 3rd in points and 7th in total yards on offense, the defense was key. Surrendering only 274 yards per game, this must be my best defensive performance in FOF 8.
