Chat etiquette

It is unfortunate this needs to be suggested. However, in light of recent events, then maybe having a set of rules (aka Terms of Service) would not be a bad idea. It doesn't have to be overly restrictive just something in writing that people can be referred to from time to time.

This being said, racist, homophobic, and derisive comments about other owners have no place in any discussion. My .02.

I'm not sure I've seen a rule or this problem in any other leagues. Let's hope it was a one-time error in judgement and move on. If it happens repeatedly, I'll make a rule or deal with it accordingly.

Not one person around here used any racist terms. On the other hand using the term fag or faggotry well as a person who has a homosexual friend I have been told this isnt a term that bothers someone who is gay. So again for you to classify this as hate speech is pretty fuckin soft. You seem to be very sensitive. Moving along This isn't an office place or work. This is an online gaming community for an online video game. Some degree of trash talk and shit talk is to be expected and quite frankly is needed around here because the chat in this league has become quite stale. It is my personal opinion that anything goes as long as it isnt overly personal and isnt any type of real life threat. Kinda strange yanno I remember someone threatening to attack and kill me IRL in this league and no one had a problem with that back in the day. BOSS says faggotry and everyone loses their shit LOL. Btw pike there is an ignore feature feel free to use it. I used it for you after your intrusive post on my trade block. But I think if you are getting your panties in a bunch over someone saying faggotry you really need to turn the internet off its too much for you. thats just my 2 cents.

I never used a racist term at all in the chat. I don't know where that came from but its just not true. I use the word "Faggotry" daily, I don't see the big deal in that word.

I have lived overseas for over 10 years. I also was married to my first wife for over 5 years and in a relationship with her for another 4. She was an artist. I know all sorts of people in the art community. Homosexuals views on the subject matter varies widely; however, I knew many who were not offended by the term, fag. The context is important.

I would add that I am not at all "sensitive." A derision is a derision. It also didn't sound like trash talking. Given your propensity to overreact, you come across very obnoxious and a bit self- righteous. Again, context is important.

Perhaps you had removed from the ignore list, then you would be aware that I had already apologies for my transgression. Again, this goes to my point above on how you overreact to everything.

One last thing, if you want to be taken seriously, then you need to learn to articulate without the use of profanity. You do not sound smart because you can type profanity. I hope I am wrong, but I will be that you will overreact to what I just wrote as well. I supposed I am being oversensitive. Unfortunately, I have been online for over 20 years. There is a decorum that everyone follows. This league has 6 open spots. You do not attract people if you speak with fowl language. You can be cool without profanity.

First off, I'm not sure how DG keeps responding to people that he claims to have on ignore ... but I digress.

Secondly, two wrongs don't make a right. Apparently one of the previous commishes allowed personal threats. I won't. Quit living in the past. We aren't talking about what happened before, we're talking about now. I can't go back and punish someone that may not even be in the league anymore.

As an owner, I would just ignore whatever talk I don't agree with or like. If it makes someone feel better to use it or say it, fine.

As a commissioner, I would like it to cease. We have complaints about openings and activity, but then it's ok to talk like that knowing most people won't care for it? Wrong. Online gaming is an excuse to stop being civilized? Wrong. Trash talk is fine. Shit talk is great. Both of those things don't require inappropriate language. I'm not going to debate whether a certain percent of people find "fag" or "faggotry" offensive. I hope everyone here is smart enough to know those are offensive words. Using them in a negative way to insinuate that being gay is somehow a negative thing is offensive. Hoping someone is dead or has AIDs is offensive. I shouldn't have to spell this out. Also, on top of being offensive, they have zero to do with sim football.

Once again, locking this thread. The IFL forum is not where we are going to debate this crap. Under the Anti-Douchebag rule, it is prohibited. As commissioner, owner of the forum license, and Internet host of the league ... I think my word is final. If you don't like it or can't enjoy the league without sounding like an idiot, move along.
