  • The Toilet Bowl, Week 5 Recap

To say a Week 5 defeat against the Norfolk Vipers was disappointing for the Mules is a grotesque understatement. What should have been a lopsided victory quickly turned to a lower power game of attrition. Quarterback Hayden Hutton, in his second start of the 2036 campaign, finished the game 16 of 23 (69.6) for 170 and a score through the air landing a 105.3 rating. Through the ground, the Mules amassed a whopping 62 yards between 4 different ball carriers. Minus the two quarterback keepers and the Mules rushed for a pedestrian 46 yards on a combine 19 carries (2.4).

I can take one look at these numbers and plainly see that I out coached myself. If I had game-planned anymore conservatively Rush Limbaugh would have been my mascot.

In a game that my defense produced 3 interceptions and a fair amount of punts, my offense handed almost every single opportunity back over with a mind boggling 7 three and outs. Total yards between those 7 drives . . . -1.

A look at the directional passing reveals the following.
    Screen 3/3 | 5yd | 1.7avg
    Short 16/11 | 112yd | 7.0avg
    Medium 2/2 | 53yd | 26.5avg
    Long 0/2

An important thing to note is that my short passes were geared almost exclusively towards 0-4 yard passes. I leaned too heavily on RAC and i paid for it. The dunk and dink game worked well against Houston, but it serves me right to get embarrassed at home trying to run a sackless offense again. 10-14 final.

Congrats on the win, strapalongenon84, you deserved it.

How'd everyone else do Week 5?

      GG Sabean,

IWC built a nice half time lead (24 - 7) and that was a good thing as your scrappy squad of Hookers mounted a comeback to tie the contest at 30 - 30. But QB Hillery engineered a solid drive which end in a FG with only seconds remaining. With the win, the Arsenal is the only undefeated team in the IFL.
