i had a good hunch it would be a close, low scoring game. Thought we would pull it out, however.
then ingame injuries to key players on defense killed us. we contained your run game until our MLB and SLB got injured. then our FS got hurt. then we started to give up 7-9 yd runs followed by this
Columbia: Strong formation with three wideouts, strength is right. The defense is in a 43 with nickel personnel and 3-deep zone coverage, expecting the pass.
3-17-NWK37 (4Q: 12:55) Max Manubay ran around the left tackle for 37 yards and a TOUCHDOWN! Key block delivered by Otis Sherman. Sherman ran over Warren Woodard to set up the play. Columbia 18, Newark 16 (4Q: 12:55) Extra point by Eugene Boling was good. Columbia 19, Newark 16
then on the ensuing kickoff
(4Q: 12:38) Eugene Boling kicked off 60 yards from the CLB35. Les Hill returned the ball 20 yards to the NWK25. Tackled by A.J. Douglas. Ball was fumbled and recovered by CLB Caleb Mathews on the NWK25.
this turnover turned into an easy FG.
couldn't overcome your great defense after the 2 huge late game mistakes.
congrats on your first imperial bowl championship!!!

Matt thanks... the game was everything I expected. First ever championship in any league so I will cherish this one. 10+ years and all.
But this does make me feel a bit nostalgic as I started my first ever team here in the IFL as the original Columbia Fire with JC leading the team. We made it to the conference finals once but never the dance. So to win it as the Fire brings it full circle...

Congrats to both teams and kudos to iceman on a great season. You definitely put together a great plan all season, focusing on defense and running the ball a lot, which enabled some solid production from Peyton Blue.
