Question for those in the know how hard is it to get a player to change position??

Can someone remind me why the game doesn't let you release an injured player in the offseason? I would like to release Daryl Weaver. His career is over. And he is expensive.

I don't think you can release an injured player unless they are in the last year of their contract.

Probably because an injury settlement can only be based on the last year of the contract? Not exactly sure why

It's not hard, but they won't do it unless they are the right size. Also, unless it's simple like the side of the field they play on, they will likely take a huge hit in ratings.

Because that's the way Jim programmed it?

I'd imagine it emulates real life and something like that is probably worked in to the collective bargaining agreement. That way some 6th round pick who works his tail off to make the team and then has a season ending injury during his first game can't just be cut and tossed away. It guarantees he maintains a paycheck while he is injured and gets the benefit of the team's resources for rehabilitation.

That is entirely speculation on my part, but it makes sense to me.

Probably. You can IR them to sign someone else, but you still have to pay them.
