Thats very telling I would say. But I wish they (AMD) would do a little better. They are putting a factory 10 miles from my house. Construction starts in about a year. I believe it's for their newest chips. But I will tell you, the 1st computer I built I used a AMD 486-133MHZ processor. I was the envy of all.

Here is a zdnet review of the specific processors I was talking about (you know the ones that came out around the same time and are in the same price range not the 1100-1500 dollar one intel has out
). At the top there is a drop down menu to check out all different functions of these particular cpus and their benchmarks. so again AMD phenom II is very very similar to the intel i7 in all aspects of 3d and gaming. So wtf would I a gamer spend an extra 100 on it esp when that would involve getting a more expensive mobo.
frown frown frown. Sorry I dont want to spend what would pan out to be an extra 200 to get an intel which is slightly better.
"And I have never had a single memory error since I rebuilt it a month ago. "
uh because you don't have 4x1 which would cause it. I stated that previously.
"And the E8400 is only $164 dollars and outperforms all but the top end AMD's. That's a pretty good price/performance ratio if ya ask me."
Well you can keep that I will spend the extra 34 dollars and get a AMD phenom ii quadcore.

Anyways You stay with intel I will stay with AMD. If you can get a good value by buying a cheaper intel that performs well thats good. If I had 1000 dollars to drop on a cpu I would go intel and something thats head and shoulders better. But I dont and I like my AMD presents more bang for the buck imo and it doesn't require getting a more expensive mobo.
in all you would prob have to spend 200 more dollars to get a i7 that is slightly better and probably not even noticeable.
