Practices have been closed to the public all week, however, we have first hand information that the Assassins plan to unveil an entirley new defense this week against Reno. However, they will have to run the offense without rookie phenom Gene Hamilton, who is sidlined for at least 2 more weeks with knee tendinitis. This couldn't have come at a worse time, as the offense is struggling to produce any points at all. Wesley Connell is less then impressive, not seeming to grasp the speed of pro defensives, assuming he can simply outrun, or outpower people, and.......its not happening. Head coach Britt Hatcher speaks to the media;
'Its a rougher start then expected, and losing Hamilton for 2 weeks at this critical juncture of the season is huge, however, we have complete confidence in his backup, Ronald Palmer, who has been Genes close partner, and good friend, for 3 years now. Their alot the same type of quarterback, so massive reworking of the game plan wasn't necessary.
We have been working on the gameplan, I don't think we initially expected the athletes to develop the way they have, and we have made major adjustments to compensate for this. Our defensive gameplan has been torn out, gutted, and reworked from the ground up. It wasn't working for us, at all. Win or lose, this team is going to play alot stronger, utilizing their strengths, and minimizing the weakness. We here in Oakland truly believe, the team, the fans, and the league, will see a whole new Assassin team."
Well, there ya have it, the proof will be in the game tommorow, as Oakland travels to Reno to take on the Wolfpack. Thats it from us, see ya at the game!
