The Mules today announced that DC Aaron Chiaccheri (65) and OC Bryant White (66) would be leaving the team after both playing their part over the last two years.
An hour later it was leaked on twitter that Marc Young would be the next OC after signing a 5 year deal that will pay him $8.47M per year. Young has been a bowl winner once as an OC.
We already knew that Steve Borders was in talks with the Mules and it was announced a couple of hours later in a tele conference call with GM Thompson that he had inked a 5 year deal ($6.16M per year). Borders has been a DC on two bowl winning teams.
Both coaches are 50 years old, so much younger than the men they are replacing as the Mules continue to look forward. QB George took over as the starter last season and Opie Peterson is out of contract and is not expected back.
GM Thompson was quoted as saying “we are looking for every edge we can find, we have fallen short the last couple of seasons and this is not good enough for the Mules fans who still crave winning it all.”
