"Today we announce the departure of one of the building blocks of our great organization. Carl Wing was the Imperial Football League's first DROY and has never rested on his laurels during his brilliant career thus far. There isn't a football team on the planet that couldn't benefit from 'Chicken' and the Lynx will be happy enough to see that firsthand from now one.
'So why the departure?' you're probably wondering. Well the 2nd worst part of this job - other than cutting down a roster to 53 after pre-season - is that if you lead a team that lives and dies by the draft then at some point, if successful in drafting, a situation will arise where you've got two strengths at the same position. Of course on cutdown day those players that are cut are usually out of jobs, in a situation like we've got today the Phantoms lose out on a great player but the player's career lives on! We expect 'Chicken' to flourish in Anchorage.
(grin) And I'm sure Mr. Hunter Crawford in CAL will be happy to see Carl Wing again."
