    WEEK 2

    Game of the Week

Salt Lake City Stallions (16) over Hartford Grizzlies (14)

For the second week in a row, the Stallions find themselves featured as the game of the week. In a game that many did not even have on their radar screens two weeks ago, the Stallions welcomed the Grizzlies into town looking to build off their week one victory. The game was pretty much a defensive slugfest up until the final quarter. The only scoring in the first half was done by Salt Lake as they took advantage of an interception, blocked punt, and one nice drive by Chaplin which led to 3 FGs. Things stated to heat up in the final 12 minutes of the game as both teams opened up their aerial arsenal and lit the score board up. In a span of 8 minutes the score jumped from 9-0 to 16-14 in favor of the Stallions. But an onside kick recovery by Hartford nearly changed the outcome, unfortunately for the Grizz Mulcahy’s 4th down pass fell short of its target and secured a 2-0 start for the Stallions

    Blowout of the week

Little Rock Toads (40) over Portland Seals (21)

Yes we at the fan club are aware that there were bigger margins of victory this weekend, but despite what the score says this game was not this close. Little Rock obviously had a major chip on their shoulder after losing their season opener to Tulsa. How do you rebound from that? You beat the living snot out of your next opponent. Unfortunately for Portland they where on the menu and the Toads where ready to eat. Little Rock owned every aspect of this game, Yardage, time of possession, and obviously the final score. At one point Little Rock scored on 6 straight possessions. With this game Portland losses their first 2 home games, and Little Rock still has life in the very competitive NFC South.

    Stewie’s Thoughts (Top 10) – Week 1

    1. West Virginia needs to start their rookie QB Mills over Del Greco. What? They might lose a game? Atleast the rook would get some experience

    2. West Virginia is on the verge of not being able to field a team. With only 46 players under contract and SE Gardner down for 4 weeks, the team does not have the cap space to add another WR.

    3. Pick on West Virginia day - #1 overall selection Ray Rodriguez need to start showing he is a #1 pick. In 2 games he has 1 KRB in 6 attempts. Either that or the Beast need to learn how to run behind this large chunk of land they purchased this off season.

    4. Devon Taylor (Tul) showed this week that maybe the Cows can run and pass the ball. But can they do it on a regular basis?

    5. Who is Chuck Bruce? The unknown rookie DE from Orlando almost gained DROW honors with his 3 tackles, 2 assists, and 1.5 sacks in this week’s game against Montreal

    6. A big week for QB’s, we had multiple 300 yard performances as well as multiple QB’s with 3 or more TD’s.

    7. OK JC can stay in Columbia for now. We still feel the young QB needs some reps. But with JC’s performance this weekend, he showed he can still play.

    8. 4 teams that finished in last place in 2007 currently control 1st place this season. While Orlando is not that big of a shock, teams like Tulsa, Salt Lake, and Witchita are pleasant surprises thus far.

    9. Jared Mulcahy played a great game for Hartford this week bringing back memories of when he led Columbia to the playoffs in 2006

    10. Could in be Clayton Chung’s last season in Texas? Unlikely, but Herman Boggs has seen a lot of playing time in the first two games this season. And not because Chung was hurt.
