Game Of The Week
LRK @ VER (-1)
These 2 NFC powerhouse's meet in week 3 both needing a win. Both teams sit at 1-1 after their week one upset losses. Both teams have some injury problems, but nothing that should slow them down. I'm going with Vermont in this one. They're at home, and WR Max Brown has been on fire in this young season. With CB Sammy Lindo hurt, this should help Vermont.
ORL @ VAN(-1)
Orlando has beaten Vermont, and came close to beating the defending Imperial Bowl champs. Vancouver has struggled. Orlando will ride in this one.
OAK (-1)@ PIT
This has the makings of a great game. PIT will have the field in its regular rough condition. Oakland should be happy if they can get out of PIT without any major injuries. I pick Oakland to win, but Jave better start praying for no injuries.
HOU @ HAR(-1)
Hartford is a team that has a decent passing game, a decent running game, and a decent defense. Add this all up, and they're about as a consistent teams as there is. I expect them to win and cover the 1 point.

Recently I travelled to Columbia to have a sit down with the GM of the Fire. Here is the transcript.
1. What is the story in Columbia? You guys were picked by many experts, including myself, to make an impact this year.
Honestly we are trying to figure that out ourselves. With the off season moves we made we felt that we addressed some key issues that would take us to the next level. But those pieces have not paid off so far. We are hoping that will change.
2. Is there anything wrong with Julian Cartagena?
With the way last season went for him, there are concerns that he may be trying to avoid injury. As many GMs know, when a player fears injury it impacts how they play the game on the field. The coaching staff is working with him to make sure there are no issues with his mechanics, and we look to make some changes in the game plan this week to maybe help make JC feel comfortable.
3. What's it going to take for Columbia to get things going and compete in your division, especially now that Texas has come out firing on all cylinders?
Texas has been a great surprise. We all knew that Texas and Tulsa are teams on the rise. But for us to rebound, we are going to have to win these games these close games. Both loses this year where games we should have one. The defense needs to step up and the offense needs to find the end zone more. With the weapons this team has, we should win the close ones.
4. The Fire continue to lose money every year. How will the move to Atlanta help this organization turn things around?
Yeah we are really concerned about that while we are still in Columbia. When the new management took over the team, they knew that the Fire would be in the red until the move to Atlanta, just not with the kind of support we are getting still. The move to Atlanta is something that everyone is looking forward to. Anytime you can move into a new state of the art stadium, you’re excited. We feel that with the new stadium and the increase revenue that Atlanta brings, that we should see some improvement on this issue.
5. What does life look like after Cartagena decides to call it a career? Do you have any plans, short or long term, to replace him?
In the short term, JC will lead the Fire. But the team also realizes that the clock is ticking, and something in the near future is required. The team does have a lot of things it needs to look at over the next year or so, and one of those is to find an heir apparent to JC. Harry Reeves could still be that man, and the coaching staff how Reeves continues to learn for both JC and Sanders. Should Reeves not take that next step, the team is not afraid to go shopping for the Fires QB of the future.
