Oakland Press, Oakland, Ca
Left Cornerback
Joshua McLaughlin

The move to a more conventional defense hurt the entire defensive backfields stats, but improved the overall pass defense. On paper, it would appear that McLaughlin is a great corner, however, the Oakland coaching staff has yet to fiqure out how to use them to the teams advantage. Look for the Assassin "D" to move back to a more aggressive pass coverage this year to better utitize their defensive backs.
Right Cornerback
Patrick Davey

Same story here as McLaughlins. Despite playing better overall pass defense, Davey's overall numbers dropped, puzzlings the Assassins coaching staff. If they can fiqure out how to best use these 2 pass cover monsters, added to the improved defensive line..........WATCH OUT!!!
Strong Saftey
Conrad Delisle

Once considered the premier free agent pickup of the 2003 season, Oakland is now scratching it's head wondering why this guy is NOT developing. Showing only average play, and no signs of improvement, the Assassins are just about to give up on this once promising player.
Free Saftey
Stephen Edelstein

Showing promise, finally, in his 4th year in the league, the Assassins are confident that he will play up to his potiental in 2006, earning him league wide honors, but more importantly, the Assassins, a long awaited playoff spot!
The Oakland defensive backfield is a curious question mark. While having all of the tools, they have yet to put it all together to play solid pass defense, or assist on run "D". A complete reworking of the defensive gameplan is needed this year to put all of the pieces together. Only time will tell if they are able to be successful at it.
From Oakland, Ca, this is Oakland Press. See you in the pre-season!
