  • Horsetooth Ogres 2076 Draft Class

The Ogres entered this draft with a clear objective: lean further into a power-based identity while continuing to build depth across the roster. Rather than chasing ratings, Horsetooth once again targeted players with traits that translate directly into defined roles within the system.

    Ogres Reinforce the Trenches Early

At 1.13, Horsetooth selected G Percy Emmons, a cornerstone addition to the interior offensive line. With the offense continuing its shift toward a more physical, power run approach, Emmons brings the strength and reliability needed to create movement at the point of attack.

In the third round, the Ogres stayed committed to the trenches with T Wally Taylor. While more developmental, Taylor adds needed depth and gives the staff another piece to mold as the offensive line continues to evolve.

    Defense Adds Range and Flexibility

In Round 4, Horsetooth added OLB -> DE Norman Clemons, a versatile player capable of contributing in multiple packages. Clemons fits the Ogres’ defensive philosophy—play fast, rotate often, and maintain flexibility without sacrificing structure.

Skill Positions Focus on Role and Efficiency

Round 5 brought WR Bryan Headrick, a vertical threat who projects as a situational weapon capable of stretching defenses and creating chunk plays when called upon.

In Round 6, the Ogres added TE Kaden Coomes, a balanced tight end who can contribute in both the run and pass game. His ability to stay on the field aligns with Horsetooth’s emphasis on versatility and offensive efficiency.

    Late Value with Defined Purpose

With their final selection, Horsetooth took RB Devan Covington in Round 7. While not a traditional every-down back, Covington brings explosive traits that fit specific concepts in the playbook, particularly in misdirection and outside run packages.

    Overall

This class reflects Horsetooth’s continued commitment to system fit over star chasing. The Ogres strengthened the offensive line to support a more physical run game, added defensive flexibility, and found situational playmakers throughout the middle and late rounds.

Rather than forcing needs, Horsetooth once again let the board come to them—adding depth, reinforcing identity, and maintaining the roster balance that has defined their recent success.
