Assassin "D" letting nothing get by them against Fresno
In a shocking move, the Oakland Assassins played their starters heavy minutes in a meaningless preseason game this afternoon in Fresno, but the results were nothing short of impressive.
Scoring touchdowns on 6 of their first 7 possessions enroute to a 45-10 victory, the Assassins simply pounded Fresno from the opening snap to the final gun. We spoke to RDE Derek Nelson on the phone from his home in Oakland, "Alot of members of the media, and fellow players would call this a meaningless game, but when your on a team that wins 8 games in 2 years, there are NO meaningless games. Every time you step on that field you expect to win, and giving anything less then 100% effort is NOT acceptable when you wear the silver and black".
Nelson has taken over this team, " I refuse to sit back and watch us lose and lose and lose again this year. If I have to play 4 positions, every damn snap this year, then thats what I will do".
Oakland meets Norfolk in the black hole this week, however, despite Nelsons motivation, Oakland GM Jave assures us we will see little of the starting unit for the remainder of the preseason.
